Spanish Tapas

WHAT IS TAPAS?

Tapas of a Spanish origin, tapas are traditionally "small appetizers" that are, snack-size foods meant to be eaten between meals. Tapas are extremely popular in Spain consisting of both cold and hot seafood, meats and vegetables. They are tiny bites eaten over a conversation usually with a glass of wine or a beer. In Spain they are served in individual, a half or full sized ration. Tapas may be eaten as a snack or as a full meal.

Diners can order dishes individually, or as a group of related dishes. Olives are still popular ingredients for tapas, as are cheese, ham and other foods that blend themselves well to small snacks.

Diners can then make up their own tapas combinations, according to their individual tastes. As we say in La Siesta “tapas are for sharing desserts are for fighting over…”
